The 4th International Interdisciplinary Conference on Posture and Wheeled Mobility
Welcome to the website of the 4th International Conference on Posture and Wheeled Mobility. This conference follows on from the success of the two conferences held in Dundee, and the 2005 conference held in Exeter. The venue is the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow, Scotland, UK.

There is an increasing number of international conferences on offer, and with whose organisers the organisers of this conference have been working closely: these include ISS, RESNA, the Nordic Seating Symposium, and the ESS. To complement the programmes of these other conferences, we are placing an emphasis on creating, presenting, and discussing proposals for Best Practice in a number of areas around seating, posture, and mobility. The topics are a mix of updates on existing best practice guidelines and proposals for new ones, and are being worked on by interdisciplinary teams of therapists, medics, engineers, and manufacturers, as appropriate.
The sponsors of the conference are the British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine (BSRM), the Posture & Mobility Group (PMG), and the Scottish Posture and Mobility Network (SPMN).
"Best Practice: Hit or Myth?"
We aim to develop and recommend best practice guidelines that can be used as a set of references for clinicians worldwide.
The Conference will be covering:
- Mobility technical and clinical issues
- Managing posture and function
- Cross and multidisciplinary insights
- The role of assistive technology in meeting the needs of individuals
